Verso il 1975 costituisce un gruppo che deciderà di farsi conoscere col nome di Crisalide , suonando inizialmente come support band per la giovane Loredana Bertè , reduce dal successo del suo primo singolo .
L'anno dopo , con lo stesso gruppo , Stefano accompagna Fausto Leali e dopo ancora , Crisalide inizia a suonare con Eugenio Finardi .

Tornato in Italia e con lo stesso team di collaboratori , inizia la realizzazione e gli arrangiamenti dell'album del noto cantante francese Gilbert Montagnè .
Il singolo "On va s'aimer" è un grande successo e vende circa tre milioni di copie , l'album invece raggiungerà il milione .
Nel 1984 pubblica il terzo album solista , "If" , cantato esclusivamente in lingua inglese , anticipato dal 45 giri "Desideri Thoughts / Love Taker "(the usual song in Italian and English) in 1983.

Nel 1991 realizza l'album d'esordio di un giovane cantautore Romagnolo , Marcello Pieri , che ottiene un discreto successo di critica e di pubblico .
La crisi del mercato discografico italiano , la ingravescente diminuizione delle vendite , in generale , impone un nuovo approccio , allora Stefano Pulga comincia a interessarsi alla realizzazione di vari jingles pubblicitari (tra cui , cinque anni dopo , quello di un noto brandy nazionale di cui non faccio il nome , dato che non mi arriverebbe un euro ... per la pubblicità) .
Nel 1992 realizza comunque il secondo album di Marcello Pieri e per la WEA l'album di un'altra giovane esordiente Napoletana , la cantante Ninè .
I due giovani nel 1993 debuttano a Sanremo , dove Pulga li accompagna nella veste di direttore d'orchestra (in verità , entrambi i cantanti non avranno in futuro , diciamo , 'enormi soddisfazioni' ...) .
Nel 1994 realizza la colonna sonora di un film a cartoni animati di Guido Manuli sulla vita di Garibaldi e nello stesso anno compone e registra le canzoni del suo quarto album , "Viale dei passi perduti" , nel quale abbandona definitivamente il suono 'da Discoteca' , per affidarsi completamente al Pop d'Autore confidenziale , in cui è la voce ad essere principalmente interessata .
L'album purtroppo non ha il meritato risalto , sebbene ben confezionato , passa per lo più inosservato sia dal pubblico che dalla critica , forse per la mancanza di battage pubblicitario (è uscito tramite la propria etichetta Step) o per l'assenza di un singolo 'di traino' , forse perchè troppo 'da Cantautore' ed intimo .
Nel 1999 oltre alle campagne pubblicitarie compone la musica , registra e mixa il singolo "Vivere a colori" dello showman Fiorello versione cantante .
Dal 2000 al 2002 lavora come arrangiatore e tecnico del suono nel suo studio in alcune produzioni per l'eterna Patty Pravo , ancora Loredana Bertè ed i 'redivivi' Shel Shapiro e Donatella Rettore .
Per la stessa produzione , Pulga realizza inoltre la sigla della trasmissione televisiva 'Striscia la notizia' .
All'inizio del 2006 realizza altri 4 pezzi inediti per il 'nick' Kano , realizzando inoltre gli arrangiamenti delle canzoni (insieme a Mauro Spina , composte da Edoardo Bennato) e la realizzazione delle musiche di supporto del musical 'Peter Pan' , che si rivela come lo spettacolo teatrale più visto del 2007 .
L'"Uomo di ieri" , come diceva il titolo di un suo brano tratto dal primo album , è decisamente cambiato , musicalmente parlando .
E' di questo anno , l'ultima fatica dal titolo "Il cielo e la sposa" .
Affermato polistrumentista , arrangiatore e producer di talento , sperimentatore di nuove sonorità analogiche prima e digitali adesso , STEFANO PULGA ha regnato prima come importante 'master of ceremony' e pioniere dell'Italo Disco , mentre ai giorni attuali entra a pieno diritto nel Pop d'Autore With style and elegance, alas (and alas) very little publicity and with the humility and skill of a serious professional, in my humble opinion, unfairly undervalued today.
